December Days … Regrets ? Nah !

new hearder

I came across this quote in an magazine article months ago, from actor Kevin Costner.

“I  haven’t lived a perfect life. I have regrets.

But that’s from a lifetime of  taking chances, making decisions, and trying not to be frozen.

The only thing  that I can do with my regrets is understand them.”

I wonder how many people are waking up this morning and ‘regretting’ last night. Party night out ? Perhaps one shot too many and ended up dancing on tables? Are your memories of that dinner, drinks and dancing a bit fuzzy? Are you wondering where the traffic cone in the middle of your flat came from?

I think there are very few of us who have not had a ‘good night out’ and not at some point put pur head in our hands when the photo of us doing the lambada with Santa appears, but just think, would you swap that fuzzy memory ? Would you rather wake up, sober or hungover, thinking I wish I had?

I am not advocating heavy drinking or doing something incredibly unsafe or stupid. My point is that this world is so tough these days, so many of us are stressed and do not have enough hours in the day to try to achieve what we want to, that a wee party night out with good people can sometimes be just what we need. A friend of mine. who does not drink alcohol as a lifestyle choice, said to me during the week, that her office night out was the best in years. Why? Because she let go of her normal ‘just sit back and watch’ attitude, got onto the dance floor and had the time of her life. The video clip of her and the Boss doing the Birdie Dance is now her screensaver as it makes her smile.

So guys, just remember the words that Ol’ Blue Eyes sang, get out there and do that Timewarp/YMCA/Birdie Dance your way!

Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

PS not planning a party night out ? Then why not have one at home with the kids, teach them the cheesy tunes and the moves that go with them
